May Allah bring more happiness and prosperity to you and family in 2008. Year 2007 had been pretty tough and rough for many people. Let us hope for smooth sailing in 2008. Things will hopefully consolidate for better in 2008. In IT industry: (1) Windows Vista proved to be a biggest disappointment, according to PC World. (See http://tinyurl.com/2tqupt) (2) "One Laptop Per Child" (http://laptop.org/vision/) started production. (3) Linux gained more momentum in 2007. Hardware vendors like Dell are now providing pre-loaded Linux on their machines. (4) IT industry saw a rising trend of Web 2.0 in 2007. Web 2.0 simply means emergence of more web-based software with desktop like user-interface. Facebook, google apps, 37signals are just few examples. In 2008, we shall see more businesses move to web-based IT infrastructure due to huge deployment and maintenance cost advantages. The biggest advantage: a web browser and an internet connection is all you need to access your business application from any where in the world.
